In a significant move aimed at enhancing security in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Monday received the new Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Olatokunbo Afolabi, at the Presidential Lodge of the Government House in Akure.
The visit marked Afolabi’s first official engagement with the Governor following his appointment. He was formally introduced by the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abayomi Oladipupo, who praised the Governor’s support for security agencies during his tenure.
During the meeting, the Police leadership briefed Governor Aiyedatiwa on the recent security challenges in Owo Local Government Area, which has been grappling with disturbances. While specific details of the briefing were not disclosed, the discussion highlighted the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence in the ability of Commissioner Afolabi to sustain and enhance the security framework established in the state. He also reiterated his administration’s unwavering support for the police and other security agencies in ensuring the safety of lives and property across Ondo State.
“Security remains a top priority for our administration, and we will continue to provide the necessary resources to address challenges promptly and effectively,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated.
The Governor commended the outgoing Commissioner, Oladipupo, for his dedication and service, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
Commissioner Afolabi assured the Governor of his readiness to work closely with the state government and other stakeholders to address the security needs of Ondo State.
