The Olowo of Owo Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, has blessed the pioneer set of medical students of Achievers University, Owo, ahead of the commencement of their clinical internship within communities across the kingdom.
The students paid a courtesy visit to the monarch on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, as part of what the university described as a “Community Entry” programme designed to formally introduce the medical trainees to the communities where they will undertake their clinical training.
The delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor of Achievers University, Professor Omolola Irinoye, alongside the Provost of the College of Medicine, Professor J. I. Fatukasi, and other members of the university’s management team.
Speaking during the visit, Professor Irinoye expressed appreciation to the Olowo for his continued support for the university, particularly his contributions to the establishment and development of the College of Medicine.
She explained that the university considered the royal visit important as the pioneer students prepare to enter communities in Owo Kingdom for a critical phase of their medical training.
Professor Irinoye also acknowledged the monarch’s support for the institution and its efforts to contribute to medical education and healthcare development in Owo.
‘SERVE WITH HUMILITY’
Responding, Oba Ogunoye congratulated the students on reaching a crucial stage in their journey towards becoming medical doctors.
The monarch charged them to approach their internship with humility, patience, endurance and steadfastness, stressing that the medical profession carries a profound responsibility because it involves the care of human lives.
He urged the students to treat members of their host communities with respect, compassion and understanding, reminding them that effective medical practice goes beyond clinical knowledge.
According to the monarch, doctors must combine professional competence with humanity, empathy and a genuine commitment to service.
He also advised the students to remain disciplined and composed as they discharge their responsibilities during the internship.
ROYAL BLESSING
The Olowo subsequently offered prayers for the students, seeking divine guidance, protection, wisdom and success throughout their internship.
He prayed for a fruitful training experience as the students begin serving communities within Owo Kingdom.
The visit marked a significant transition for the pioneer medical students as they move from the classroom into practical clinical training—and carry with them the expectations of their university, their profession and the communities they are preparing to serve.
