The ancient city of Owo witnessed a magnificent celebration of its rich cultural heritage as Magbuligbe Worldwide, under the leadership of Dr. Akintoye, made an impressive appearance at Ogwalopo 2026, transforming the expansive grounds of the historic Olowo’s Palace into a breathtaking spectacle of royalty, traditional elegance and communal pride.
It was more than a festival. It was a powerful declaration of home consciousness, a celebration of ancestral identity and a compelling demonstration of what becomes possible when a people united by their roots come together to honour and celebrate their heritage.
Against the majestic backdrop of the Olowo’s Palace, where centuries of tradition continue to command reverence, members of Magbuligbe Worldwide assembled in beautifully coordinated aso ebi, presenting an impressive portrait of unity, sophistication and cultural solidarity.
Here, beauty met pageantry, tradition embraced modernity, and the enduring spirit of Owo found expression in a colourful gathering of distinguished sons and daughters determined to keep the flame of their cultural heritage burning.
Among the distinguished personalities sighted were CP Kulogun, my Olotu, Mrs. Kolawole, and my respected senior from Methodist High School, a proud member of the illustrious Faalagun dynasty of Owo.
Their presence, alongside other elegantly attired members of Magbuligbe Worldwide, added further distinction to an occasion that celebrated not merely the splendour of traditional attire, but the deeper values of belonging, brotherhood and collective identity.

THE PALACE, THE PAGEANTRY AND THE ROYAL SPLENDOUR!
What a breathtaking spectacle it was as various egbes, elegantly adorned in their traditional regalia, filed past the royal seat of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo.
It was culture in motion, tradition in its finest expression and a powerful demonstration of the enduring relationship between the people and their revered traditional institution.
The royal stage itself presented a magnificent assembly of Owo’s distinguished high chiefs, resplendent in exquisite aso oke befitting their exalted traditional titles.
Among those visible during this memorable segment were Dr. Demola Obanoyen, Chief Oghadogbon and Chief Elerewe, whose majestic appearances further enriched the royal atmosphere.

THE MUSIC, THE MASTER OF CEREMONIES AND THE CULTURAL EXTRAVAGANZA!
Ambassador Adidas Silkiru Obanoyen, the master of ceremonies, was unquestionably in his element.
With admirable command, humour and cultural sophistication, he coordinated the proceedings, introducing distinguished personalities from far and wide while maintaining the rhythm, energy and excitement of the occasion.
And what would such a magnificent gathering be without the irresistible sounds of Owo traditional music?
Chief Segun Boyede led an impressive assembly of musical maestros, delivering performances that transformed the palace grounds into a vibrant theatre of cultural celebration.
The music was infectious, the performances captivating and the atmosphere electrifying.

A FESTIVAL OF HOMECOMING, ROYAL HOMAGE AND HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Ogwalopo 2026 was much more than a colourful gathering. It represented a remarkable expression of home consciousness, cultural reconnection and collective pride in the enduring heritage of Owo.
As participating groups paid homage to the Kabiyesi and music filled the air, old friendships were renewed, new relationships blossomed and the spirit of communal identity found renewed expression.
Meanwhile, photographers and videographers moved tirelessly across the palace grounds, capturing the royal processions, colourful personalities and memorable performances for posterity.
Every photograph, every musical performance and every ceremonial procession contributed another chapter to the cultural history of our beloved ancient city.
Indeed, the Olowo’s Palace became a magnificent temple of culture, where tradition embraced modern organisation and the past found renewed relevance in the present.

Special recognition must go to Dr. Akintoye and the entire leadership of Magbuligbe Worldwide for their vision, coordination and commitment to bringing our people together through this remarkable cultural initiative.
