The Diocese of Owo, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), has celebrated its Bishop, The Rt Revd Dr Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi, FICT, CFAT, describing him as a visionary leader, dedicated shepherd and accomplished administrator whose episcopacy has contributed to the spiritual and institutional growth of the Diocese.
The Diocese, in a birthday message issued by its Office of the Public Relations Officer, joined the Bishop’s family, clergy, laity and well-wishers in thanking God for his life, ministry and years of service to the Church.
It described Bishop Fagbemi as a distinguished episcopal leader, scholar, seasoned administrator and faithful servant of God, whose leadership has been marked by vision, diligence, spiritual depth, compassion and commitment to the advancement of the Church.
The Diocese particularly commended his leadership style, saying he had provided purposeful direction while encouraging clergy and members of the laity to remain committed to the mission of the Church and the service of God and humanity.
It also recognised his academic and intellectual accomplishments, describing him as a scholar whose theological knowledge, intellectual depth and passion for learning had continued to enrich his episcopal ministry.
Beyond his scholarly accomplishments, the Diocese praised Bishop Fagbemi’s administrative capacity, noting his organisational discipline, prudence and ability to coordinate people and resources towards the achievement of the Diocese’s objectives.
His pastoral commitment also came under commendation, with the Diocese describing him as a caring and compassionate shepherd who has consistently demonstrated concern for the spiritual wellbeing and welfare of members.
According to the statement, the Bishop’s fatherly disposition, accessibility, counsel and encouragement have made him a source of inspiration and stability to many clergy, families, young people and members of the laity.
The Diocese further described him as a role model and mentor, saying his conduct, scholarship, leadership and commitment to service had continued to inspire people within and beyond the Diocese.
It acknowledged his efforts towards strengthening the unity, spiritual life and administration of the Diocese, as well as his commitment to its overall growth and development.
As Bishop Fagbemi marks another year, the Diocese prayed that Almighty God would renew his strength, increase his capacity for service and grant him wisdom, sound health, divine protection and grace for the responsibilities entrusted to him.
It also prayed for continued divine guidance over his episcopacy, family and ministry, expressing hope that his years ahead would be marked by even greater opportunities for fruitful service and the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
The Diocese of Owo therefore wished the Bishop a happy, glorious and blessed birthday, with many more years of impactful service to God, the Church and humanity.
