Umahi and Nwifuru
The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has assured his unwavering support for Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, pledging to ensure the governor completes two full terms in office.
Umahi made this commitment on Saturday in his hometown of Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area, during a Christmas visit by members of the Izzi National Youths Forum, Nwifuru’s clan association.
Describing the visit as unexpected, Umahi expressed his determination to see Nwifuru serve uninterrupted for eight years, following the precedent set by past governors of the state, including himself.
“My covenant with God and Nwifuru is to see him complete two terms in office,” Umahi declared. “I fought battles to make him governor, and with support by my side now, nothing will stand in the way of his success.”
Reiterating his faith in Nwifuru’s leadership qualities, Umahi praised the humility and competence of the governor, emphasizing that the Izzi clan remains a cornerstone of governance in the state.
“Nwifuru is humble, and I will stand by him until he completes his eight years,” Umahi affirmed.
The former governor also lauded the leadership of the Izzi National Youths Forum for their dedication, noting the large turnout of delegates who visited him.
“I appreciate your gesture in celebrating with me when you could have been with your son, the governor. This act of solidarity speaks volumes,” he said.
In his remarks, Andrew Elom, the National President of the Izzi National Youths Forum, expressed gratitude to Umahi for fulfilling his promise of handing over the governorship to an Izzi indigene.
Elom urged Umahi to continue providing guidance and support to Governor Nwifuru to ensure his administration remains on the right track.
“This is your project, and the governor will greatly benefit from your mentorship,” Elom noted, commending Umahi’s accomplishments as Minister of Works and their impact on Nigeria at large.
The visit underscored a renewed partnership between Umahi and the Izzi clan to sustain progress in Ebonyi State.
