When a juju music legend sang, “Ajala travelled all over the world” in 1973, little did anyone at Methodist High School, Owo (MHSO) know that an “Ajala” of their own would one day return to lead the school after a brief sojourn in Italy.
Welcome back to Chief Oladipo Asubiojo, an illustrious ex-student and the first alumnus to become the principal of MHSO—a historic achievement. Chief Asubiojo, a proud member of the MHSO ’79 set, returned with remarkable vigor to head the school he once walked through as a student.

A Feat of Pride and Legacy
Ten years after the first set of MHSO pioneers graduated, the school began witnessing the return of its alumni to take up leadership positions, not only at MHSO but across various secondary schools in Ondo State and beyond. This accomplishment is one that many schools can only dream of, as it speaks to the enduring impact of MHSO’s foundation on its students.
Chief Asubiojo’s journey to becoming principal was one of hard work, grace, and destiny. His feat remains an indelible part of the school’s history, celebrated by all who admire the resilience and excellence he exemplifies.

Chief Asubiojo’s Legacy at MHSO
Chief Asubiojo’s tenure as principal of MHSO may have been brief, but it was impactful. A passionate educator and leader, he brought a unique blend of tradition and innovation to the role. Beyond his contributions to the school, he is a respected High Chief of Owo and a chieftaincy chaplain, adding cultural depth to his professional achievements.
His return to MHSO was reminiscent of Mansa Musa’s legendary pilgrimage—bringing inspiration, experience, and pride back to the community.
The Road Ahead
As MHSO celebrates its 60th anniversary, the current principal—also an alumnus—has a significant role to play in shaping the school’s future. The challenge lies in sustaining progress, navigating government hurdles, and ensuring that the school continues to thrive long after the anniversary festivities.
The question remains: who will carry the torch next?
