Owo, Ondo State – Girls’ schools that participated in the recently concluded Olowo’s Cup football competition have received a boost in health and confidence as Mrs. Bose Adebayo, Chairman of the Methodist High School, Owo, Old Students Association (METHSOOSA) Sports Committee, donated hygiene kits to them.
The gesture, according to Mrs. Adebayo, was aimed at promoting the well-being of young female athletes, enabling them to pursue both sports and academics without the setbacks often associated with hygiene challenges.
“This initiative is designed to empower our girls to participate freely, stay healthy, and feel more confident both on and off the field,” she explained through her representative, Mr. Raymond Obasusi, Team Manager of Methodist High School Football Teams and Chairman of the Owo Zone of METHSOOSA.
The donation was well received and widely commended, particularly by His Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo, who praised Mrs. Adebayo for her thoughtfulness and commitment to the kingdom’s youth.
“By addressing the needs of these young sportswomen, you are not only encouraging wider participation in football but also contributing to their education and overall wellness. This is a legacy gesture that will inspire more girls to embrace sports,” the monarch said.
Other members of the METHSOOSA Sports Committee, including Chief Sunday Aladegoroye and Pastor Salami, were also present at the presentation ceremony.
The donation is expected to leave a lasting impact on Owo Kingdom by encouraging more girls to explore their sporting potential while balancing their education with good health and self-confidence.
