Hospitals at Risk as NUPENG Strike Looms – Minister Raises Alarm

Nigeria’s health sector may face a major crisis if the planned strike by the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) goes ahead, Minister of State for Health, Ishaq Salako, has warned.

 

Salako said most hospitals rely on generators to keep operations running because of poor power supply. A disruption in fuel supply, he cautioned, could grind critical services to a halt, putting countless lives at risk.

 

  1. He noted that the development exposes the weakness of Nigeria’s healthcare system and called for urgent action to ensure reliable energy solutions for hospitals.
