Calls Mount for Safe Release of Kidnapped FMC Owo Staff, Pastor Akesinro

By Our Reporter

The abduction of Pastor Akesinro, a staff of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, has continued to generate fear and outrage, as colleagues, residents, and community leaders intensify calls for his immediate and safe release.

Pastor Akesinro was kidnapped on Thursday evening, August 28, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m., when gunmen invaded his residence at Upenme, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, and whisked him away.

Since the incident, staff of FMC Owo under the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP), residents of Upenme, and concerned Owo indigenes have made passionate appeals to the kidnappers and security agencies.

> “We are appealing for his safe release. Pastor Akesinro is not only a dedicated health worker but also a pastor and community member who has devoted his life to service. We plead with his abductors to release him unhurt,” a colleague said.

Another union leader at FMC Owo, who spoke anonymously, lamented the rising cases of insecurity in the state and urged authorities to act swiftly.

> “This is a sad moment for us. We are calling on the security agencies to leave no stone unturned in ensuring his safe return. We also plead with the abductors to consider his family and release him without harm,” the leader said.

As of the time of this report, neither the Ondo State Police Command nor the state government had issued an official statement on the abduction, but residents insist urgent intervention is needed.

The incident has once again drawn attention to worsening security concerns in Owo and environs, which have witnessed repeated violent attacks in recent years.

For now, however, the central demand from both the medical community and residents remains clear: Pastor Akesinro must be rescued and returned safely to his family and community.
