Tragedy on Ore-Lagos Highway: 30 Dead as Two Buses Collide and Burst Into Flames

Tragedy struck on Saturday as 30 people lost their lives in a fatal road accident at Onipetsi, along the Ore-Lagos highway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

 

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that 28 victims were burnt beyond recognition, while two others succumbed to their injuries while being rushed to the hospital. Two survivors are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

 

According to the Ondo State FRSC Sector Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, the accident occurred when two commercial buses had a head-on collision, resulting in a massive fire that engulfed both vehicles. Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the buses was driving against traffic, leading to the devastating crash.

 

Ibitoye assured that further investigations would provide more details on the incident, as authorities work to determine the full cause of the tragedy.
