In response to the recurring clashes between cult groups in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area, which have led to numerous killings in the ancient town, the Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Ajibade Gbedegesin Ogunoye III, on Thursday took decisive spiritual action.
Oba Ogunoye, accompanied by traditional priests from Owo, invoked “Ogun,” the god of iron, in a ceremony aimed at cursing those responsible for the violence, their sponsors, and anyone planning further attacks or killings in the community.
The traditional prayers, which symbolized the collective anger and resolve of the Owo people, were held at the Post Office Roundabout in Owo. The event was attended by all traditional priests of the land, signifying the gravity of the situation and the community’s determination to end the menace of cult-related violence.
Oba Ogunoye emphasized the importance of peace and unity, warning that the curses placed on the perpetrators and their enablers would take effect unless they repent and desist from their actions.
