The Rivers State Police Command has successfully rescued five persons who were abducted by suspected cultists in Emuoha Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the operation and identified the rescued victims as Prince London, Azubuike Kelechukwu, Elizabeth Aniete, Onyebuchi Precious and London Sampson.
According to the PPRO, the victims were freed during a coordinated operation carried out at Rumudogo 2 Community by the Command’s Tactical Teams. The operation, she said, was executed in collaboration with other sister security agencies and with the active support of local residents.
She added that all the victims have been taken to a medical facility for proper examination and care.
“I intensive efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing cultists/abductors,” SP Iringe-Koko stated.
She further quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, as warning the perpetrators that the Command will not relent until all those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted.
The Commissioner also called for continued cooperation from security agencies, local communities and the general public, assuring residents that their safety remains the top priority of the Command.
He urged citizens to go about their lawful activities without fear, emphasizing that proactive security measures have been intensified across the state.
