Achievers University, Owo, has appointed Mr. Adebayo Olagunju as the Acting Registrar, effective 17th February 2025, following the successful completion of tenure by the former Registrar, Rev. Canon Bayode Oladimeji, who has proceeded on his end-of-tenure leave after five years of dedicated service.
Announcing the appointment in a statement on 11th February 2025, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Omolola Irinoye stated that the University Council has directed Mr. Olagunju to assume the role in an acting capacity until a substantive Registrar is appointed.
Mr. Olagunju, a seasoned administrator and public relations professional, joined Achievers University on 2nd May 2008 as a Senior Assistant Registrar (Media)/Public Relations Officer (PRO), just a month after the institution commenced academic activities. Over the years, he has served in key positions, including Senior Assistant Registrar/College Secretary of the College of Social and Management Sciences (COSMAS), Principal Assistant Registrar/Secretary of the School of Postgraduate Studies, and Deputy Registrar since October 2020.
Before joining Achievers University, he worked in the Federal Civil Service, where he was posted to the Nigerian Air Force and taught at the Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja, Lagos. He also had a distinguished career at Tell Communications Limited, publishers of Tell magazine, where he rose to Head of the Copy Desk.
Mr. Olagunju holds a Bachelor of Arts (Education) in Language Arts (English) from the University of Ilorin (1987–1991), a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos (1992–1993), and a Master of Science in Mass Communication (Public Relations) from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State (2011–2013). He is also an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
