The Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State, has upheld the death sentence imposed on Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, a renowned hotelier, for his role in the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Delivering its judgment on Thursday, the appellate court affirmed the decision of the Osun State High Court, which had sentenced Adedoyin to death.
“The judgment of the High Court of Osun State stands. Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part,” the Court of Appeal declared. It confirmed that Adedoyin was rightly convicted and sentenced.
However, the court overturned some rulings of the lower court, stating, “The order of forfeiture of Hilton Hotel is quashed and set aside. The order for educational scholarships to Timothy Adegoke’s children by Adedoyin and others is also quashed and set aside.”
