Methodist High School, Owo, is on the brink of making history as three of its students—Saliu Majid, Adebayo Wasiu, and Ale Eniola—are representing Ondo State in the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) 3rd Edition of the Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed National Under-15 Soccer Tournament.

The trio is currently part of the Ondo State Under-15 soccer team, which is facing the Bauchi State team in the tournament’s opening match, taking place in Bauchi.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication of the school’s football coach, Mr. Oyeniyi Tajudeen, and the unwavering support of the Methodist High School Old Students Association (METHSOOSA) Sports Committee. The committee, led by Lady Bosede Adebayo, an esteemed alumna, has been instrumental in revitalizing the school’s sporting legacy.

Notable alumni like Chief Kasali Obanoyen, a former chairman of Sunshine Football Club, Akure, and Sir Kolade Adesida have also played advisory roles in this successful initiative.

This marks the first time any school in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State has produced players for a YSFON tournament, a milestone that signals the resurgence of the town’s sporting talent.
As of press time, the opening match was still underway, with anticipation running high for the outcome. Stay tuned for updates on this historic journey.
