In the opening match of the ongoing 3rd edition of the Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed YSFON National Under-15 Soccer Tournament, tagged Bauchi 2025, the host state, Bauchi, secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Ondo State.
The exciting encounter took place at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, where the home team netted the only goal in the 15th minute of the first half. Despite the loss, the Ondo State team impressed spectators with their exceptional soccer skills and artistry.
A standout performance came from Adebayo Wasiu of Methodist High School, Owo, who played as an attacking midfielder. Wasiu, a natural left-footer, entered the match as a substitute with just 10 minutes remaining, captivating fans with his technical prowess and creativity.

The 50-minute showdown also saw Ondo State’s goalkeeper, John Rotiwa, earn praise as the man of the match for his remarkable saves that kept his team in the game.
It is worth noting that in their last encounter in Akure, Ondo State emerged victorious. The tournament continues tomorrow morning with more exciting matches.
