The Federal Government has approved the recruitment of 3,927 officers into the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for the 2024/2025 period, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and address staffing gaps.
The announcement was made by the Federal Ministry of Finance via its official Twitter handle, stating that the recruitment follows a comprehensive needs assessment approved by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Wale Edun.
At the 61st regular meeting of the Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB), chaired by Minister Edun on December 18, 2024, several key decisions were made. These include the confirmation of one Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) and seven Assistant Comptroller Generals (ACGs), alongside the promotion of 4,291 senior officers.
The newly appointed management team includes:
DCG: S Chiroma (North-East)
ACGs: ZM Gaji (North-East), OA Adebakin (South-West), GM Omale (North-Central), MS Yusuf (North-Central), DA Nnadi (South-East), HK Ejibunu (North-Central), and D Hassan (North-East).
These appointments address recent retirements and promote regional representation under the Federal Character Policy outlined in the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
